The Acton racecourse was on the western side of the hospital/museum peninsula, approx between the mouth of Sullivans Ck and Springbank Island. There were certainly sports grounds on the site of the rephotograph - I recall those ubiquitous green huts left over from the pre-war workmans camps that were used as dressing-sheds.
