This photograph was taken at Lock 8 on the Murray River when presumably Mildenhall was accompanying a tour of inspection of River Murray Works. The boats are the Captain Sturt, followed by the Paddle Steamers Industry, Excelsior and Kookaburra. In the shadows under the tree on the opposite bank is the Paddle Steamer Alpha. Lock and Weir number 8 was completed in 1935. Because of the grouping of these boats together this photograph (and the inspection of the RM Works) would have been taken sometime between 1933 and 1935.
