In 1926 the Federal Capital Commission decided the erect a small number of timber cottages for construction workers. They were built at Westridge (Yarralumla) and Corroboree Park area in Ainslie (then North Ainslie). This is one of those cottages. At the time they were built they were the equivalent of 'out in the sticks' - separated from the brick cottages erected for the transfer of public servants which began in 1927.
