I think the man in the middle leaning on his hammer is my Dad. Norman Mackenzie. He was an apprentice carpenter and would have been 21 or 22 years of age. After he finished his apprenticeship he moved to Young and there he met my Mum, Violet May Rose Coulson, and they married on 5th April 1930. Their children, Ronald, Arthur, Mary and Norma were all born in Young and not long after I was born in 1938 we moved to Phillip Street, Parramatta. New South Wales. My Dad served in the first world war and was wounded and returned home to Scotland and then came here on the P&O ship Baradine and disembarked in Melbourne. His fare was 35 pounds. I have most of his documents and discharge papers plus his medals. He lied about his age to get into the Gordon's.
