This is mostly like Sir George Pearce addressing players before the opening match of the 1928 Canberra Australian National Football Season between Eastlake (white with red sash - pictured) and Acton, who Senator Pearce was probably looking at (out of shot). The match was played on 5 May 1928 at Northbourne Oval (see 'Auspicious Start', Canberra Times, 7 May 1928, p.1.)
